Following the award of indefinite Taught Degree Awarding Powers, the institution has entered an exciting new phase – strengthening its focus on governance, regulatory compliance, risk management and institutional effectiveness.

To support this continued development, LAMDA has created a new position of Head of Governance. Reporting directly to the Principal and CEO, with a reporting line to the Chair of the Board, the Head of Governance will provide strategic leadership and expert advice on governance, regulatory compliance, data assurance and institutional risk. The role will also have line management responsibility for a small team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee LAMDA’s academic governance framework in accordance with the institution’s Policy and Governance Framework.
  • Act as Secretary to LAMDA’s governance structures, ensuring the effective operation of Board and committee meetings.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the Principal and CEO, Vice Principals, senior leaders on governance matters and coordinate audits, investigations and management responses.
  • Lead institutional compliance with regulatory requirements, including responsibility for engagement with the Office for Students and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Maintain oversight of regulatory reporting, compliance monitoring and associated data quality and management processes.
  • Work in partnership with Academic and Student Affairs teams to support the effective governance and administration of the student lifecycle.

Person Specification

  • Significant experience of governance and regulatory compliance within the UK higher education sector.
  • Proven track record of managing governance frameworks, committee structures and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience of supporting senior leaders, governing bodies or Boards.
  • Strong understanding of academic governance, compliance and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent knowledge of data governance, data quality management and regulatory reporting obligations.
