Interim Programme Manager – Size & Shape Transformation

A university in the South is embarking on a bold and necessary transformation, reshaping its academic and professional services to ensure long-term sustainability and deliver an outstanding student experience. We’re supporting them to appoint an experienced Interim Programme Manager to lead delivery of a complex and high-stakes change programme. With a clear timetable already in place, this role will bring focus, momentum, and credibility to a project that touches every part of the institution.

You’ll be the enabler, working closely with the Deans, the programme board, and cross-functional workstreams to drive delivery, support decision-making, and make sure this work lands well.

What’s involved?

  • Leading a complex Size & Shape programme with academic and operational impact
  • Supporting the Deans in shaping and delivering key recommendations
  • Working across a number of areas including curriculum design, assessment, timetabling, estate optimisation, and student experience
  • Translating data and financial models into clear, actionable insight
  • Asking the difficult questions – and backing them with evidence
  • Preparing the institution for a refinancing process in 2026/27

You’ll need to be a confident operator with experience of university transformation – ideally someone who understands academic delivery, financial sustainability, and how to get traction in a values-driven environment. This isn’t about rewriting governance or building a strategy from scratch – the direction is set. It’s about delivery: providing structure, clarity, and the drive to get this done without damaging what makes the place special.

Start date: September
