About the Role:
The Deputy Dean for Research and Innovation will be central to driving this continued excellence by inspiring change and nurturing a successful Faculty research environment across business and law. Responsible to the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Faculty, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation, the postholder will work as a core member of the ARU Research and Innovation Leadership Team. Embedding a culture of knowledge exchange, external industry partnerships, and interdisciplinary collaborations, the Deputy Dean should demonstrate expertise in strategically forging and implementing dynamic research and innovation relationships and initiatives.
Working with and supporting the broad range of constituent Schools and Research Institutes within the Faculty, the appointee will co-ordinate the development of a Faculty research and innovation plan, as well as support the Deputy Vice Chancellor in developing and implementing the ARU Research and Innovation Strategy in line with the ambitions of the broader ARU Strategic Plan. Working collegiately, they will foster the growth of inter- and trans-disciplinary research and innovation activities across ARU, leveraging the talents and assets of colleagues by creating a positive culture of planning and implementation and ultimately helping raise the profile of ARU’s research in relevant funding spaces and the wider public.
Successful candidates will bring motivational senior leadership experience in higher education with strong credentials across innovation, impact, and income generation. They will be able to evidence a track record of developing and delivering a robust research and innovation strategy, as well as an experiential understanding of and appreciation for wider corporate development. Prospective candidates will have strong communication and relationship-building skills with a collaborative and supportive leadership style.
