Competitive salary and benefits

With a student community of c.30,000 and over 2,600 staff, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence.

Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.

We are now seeking to appoint an innovative and enterprising Director of Estate Development and Campus Services who will be responsible for the leadership, management and delivery of our estates portfolio and services for estates planning, capital development delivery, maintenance management and facilities management.

Reporting to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, the Director will have strategic vison, commercial acumen, management expertise and the experience to drive through our guiding principles of customer service, student focus and value for money. Leading a team of around 350 staff operating in around 30 buildings across our two distinct campus areas, the Director will focus on embedding a strong service ethos which places students at the heart of its activities.

With experience of leading major capital developments, estates and services strategic planning, and commercial contract management, you will have held responsibility for the development, management and maintenance of a complex estates portfolio. You will bring a strong strategic orientation, excellent communication skills and a focus on delivering outstanding service. You will be enterprising, resilient, and ambitious for our university, as well as a passionate promoter of a diverse and inclusive working environment.

We welcome applications from experienced estates leaders from all sectors and industries.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction, and development support as well as family-friendly policies.

We would encourage applications from all individuals who meet the advert criteria, but would particularly encourage applications from women; Black, Asian and ethnically diverse groups, LGBTQ+ groups; and disabled people. The University is proud of its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and endeavours to cultivate a staff base that is representative of society.
