Interim and Permanent Academic Registrar – GBS

| Fully on-site role | Any GBS UK campus | 6 figure negotiable salary + bonuses |

Anderson Quigley is delighted to be partnering once again with GBS, part of GEDU Global Education, on the search for its new Academic Registrar. This is a significant senior leadership appointment within one of the UK’s largest and fastest growing higher education providers.

Please note, this is a fully on-site role, five days a week, and can be based at any of GBS’s UK campuses in London, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds.

Who is GBS?

GBS is a large and ambitious higher education provider with more than 40,000 students studying across 10 campuses in London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. Working in partnership with several UK universities, GBS delivers vocational, undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across areas including business, finance, computing, construction, psychology, project management and healthcare.

At the heart of GBS is a commitment to widening access to higher education. Its students come from a broad range of backgrounds, many balancing study alongside work, family and other commitments, and its flexible model is designed around learners for whom a more traditional university experience may not have been accessible. GBS is registered with the Office for Students and continues to grow in both scale and complexity, while maintaining a strong focus on student experience, academic support and outcomes.

Overview:

This is a critical institutional leadership role, reporting to the Deputy CEO, with responsibility for the effectiveness, integrity and continuous improvement of academic administration across GBS.

As Academic Registrar, you will lead Academic Registry and admissions and take overall responsibility for the systems, processes, controls and services supporting the student lifecycle, from admission, enrolment and student records through to assessment, progression, awards and graduation.

Operating across a large, multi-campus organisation and multiple awarding partnerships, you will ensure that academic administration is consistent, accurate, efficient and appropriately controlled. Student data integrity will be central to the role, alongside responsibility for statutory, regulatory and awarding partner reporting, effective Registry operations and the continued development of systems and services.

GBS is looking for a senior leader who can provide clear institutional leadership, establish strong standards and controls, develop high performing teams and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of Registry services as the organisation continues to evolve.

You will work closely with Faculties, Academic Standards and Quality, professional services teams and awarding partners, ensuring Registry provides the reliable infrastructure, data and administration required to support academic quality, regulatory compliance, institutional decision making and an effective student experience.

Essential criteria:

  • Significant senior leadership experience within Academic Registry, student administration or a closely related higher education function.
  • Strong experience across admissions and enrolment, student records and data, assessment, progression, awards and graduation.
  • Demonstrable expertise in student data governance, statutory and regulatory reporting, and student records systems.
  • Proven experience leading substantial teams and complex operational services, with evidence of improving performance, controls and processes.
  • Strong understanding of the UK higher education environment, with the credibility to work effectively with senior academic and professional colleagues.
  • Experience of multi-campus delivery, collaborative provision, awarding partnerships or major Registry systems transformation would be advantageous.

Next steps:

GBS is considering both permanent and interim options for this appointment and the search will move at pace. Early expressions of interest are therefore encouraged.

The search officially begins on 12th October, so we appreciate your patience in waiting for a response if you get in touch before then.
