Anderson Quigley is pleased to be supporting a large Midlands University on the appointment of an Interim Head of Change Communications, a key leadership role required at a time of a significant organisational transformation.

๐—ง๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—บ๐˜€:

  • This is an initial 6 month interim contract, with potential for extension or redeployment, ideally offered on a fixed term salaried basis although a day rate may be considered.
  • The role operates on a hybrid working basis, requiring c.2 days per week on site, with a 1.0 FTE or 0.8 FTE preferred (although 0.6 FTE may be considered for a particularly strong, senior individual).
  • An immediate/ASAP start is strongly preferred, although 1 month’s notice will work.

This is an important interim appointment providing senior leadership and continuity across internal and change communications during a period of significant organisational activity. Reporting into the Deputy Director of Communications, you will lead the development and delivery of a clear transformation narrative, ensuring complex change programmes are effectively communicated and embedded across the institution.

You will act as a trusted advisor to senior and executive stakeholders, including Vice-Chancellor level, providing counsel on communication strategy, messaging and engagement. This is a hands on leadership role, shaping communications plans, developing high quality content, and ensuring consistent messaging across channels and audiences. The portfolio spans major campus developments, organisational change, student campaigns, and wider strategic programmes. Therefore, in doing all of this, you will maintain engagement and momentum, while identifying and mitigating reputational risk.

Essential to the role is demonstrable experience of leading change and internal communications within a large, complex and regulated environment, ideally within higher education (although experience from similarly complex, unionised public sector settings will be considered).

โ€˜Head ofโ€™ level experience is preferred, although strong senior managers with clear evidence of influencing at executive level will also be considered. A background in change communications is desirable, although strong internal communications experience with exposure to organisational change will also be considered.

Finally, in addition to the above, immediate or short term availability to begin a new contract will be key.
