Interim Head of Infrastructure Finance
Anderson Quigley is delighted to be partnering with The University of Sheffield on the appointment of a high-impact Interim Head of Infrastructure Finance
This is not a steady-state role. It is a rare opportunity to step into a complex, high-profile capital environment and provide financial leadership across a £275m estates and IT investment portfolio.
You will sit at the heart of major infrastructure decision-making — shaping investment, strengthening controls and ensuring financial clarity across a programme of real scale and visibility.
You will:
- Lead the financial stewardship of all estates and IT capital projects and associated grant income
- Provide robust, forward-looking projections that directly inform institutional strategy
- Take ownership of capital forecasting, budgetary control and month/year-end processes
- Act as the investment gatekeeper — applying rigour, scrutiny and commercial acumen
- Ensure strong financial governance underpins every project
- Lead external audits of grant-funded capital activity
- Build and lead a high-performing team delivering insightful, decision-ready reporting
- Present with authority at Committee level
- Partner with senior stakeholders to shape and strengthen infrastructure business cases
We are looking for a senior finance leader who thrives where complexity meets accountability. You will bring:
- Proven experience leading significant capital finance portfolios
- Gravitas and credibility at executive and committee level
- The confidence to challenge constructively and influence across functions
- A sharp analytical mind paired with clear, compelling communication
- A track record of building strong teams and raising reporting standards
This is an opportunity to play a defining role in the financial leadership of a major research-led institution during a significant period of investment and transformation.
