Liverpool John Moores University
Independent Governors – Audit & Risk Committee and Finance Committee
Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is seeking to appoint two outstanding independent Governors to join its Board at an exciting point in the University’s development.
LJMU is a bold, modern civic university at the heart of the Liverpool City Region. With deep regional roots and global reach, it plays a vital role in shaping opportunity, supporting social mobility and preparing graduates who are ready to thrive. The University’s TEF Silver award, alongside Gold for Student Outcomes, reflects the strength of its student experience and its clear focus on graduate success and employability.
Higher education governance continues to evolve, with increasing expectations on boards to provide robust oversight while supporting institutional ambition. LJMU is therefore strengthening expertise within two of its key committees and is seeking individuals who can bring independent judgement, credibility and constructive challenge to Board discussions.
Alongside contributing to the wider strategic work of the Board, we are seeking:
Governor (Audit & Risk Committee Member)
An individual with experience in audit, risk, regulation or governance who can contribute to the Committee’s oversight of internal controls, risk management and institutional assurance.
Governor (Finance Committee Member)
A senior finance professional with the experience and credibility to contribute to financial oversight and strategic financial decision-making.
For candidates with the appropriate experience, there may be opportunities over time to take on committee leadership responsibilities as part of the Board’s succession planning.
We welcome applications from individuals with board-level insight and sound judgement. Experience may come from the commercial, public, regulated or higher education sectors. A connection to the Liverpool City Region, or the ability to attend meetings in person when required, will be important.
The University is committed to broadening the diversity of its Board and particularly welcomes applications from women and candidates from underrepresented ethnic backgrounds.
