Anderson Quigley is pleased to be partnering with a large UK University on the appointment of an Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor for their Faculty of Health and Medicine. This is a crucial interim leadership role at a time of organisational transition, with an immediate focus on team stability, regulatory assurance and external relationship-building. The appointment will ideally begin in early September and is expected to run for 6-9 months, reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
Overview:
We are seeking a senior interim academic leader with substantial experience in health-related higher education. The successful candidate will bring a sound understanding of PSRB compliance and the operational and strategic complexities involved in the delivery of clinical and healthcare programmes. Key priorities over the initial period will include providing stability to staff teams, many of whom have recently experienced change; supporting newly appointed members of the leadership team; and building trust and improving morale at the faculty’s middle management tier. In parallel, the interim PVC will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening relationships with local NHS trusts, supporting the development of practice placements, and ensuring the faculty remains compliant with all relevant professional and statutory requirements.
While this interim role does not require someone to lead on the development of a new medical offering, the interim may be expected to contribute to early discussions in this space and help lay groundwork for future planning. This is very much a hands-on, visible leadership role, and we are seeking a credible leader with the experience and interpersonal skills to navigate ambiguity, build confidence and guide the faculty through a period of transition.
While full-time availability is preferred, a 0.8 FTE arrangement may be considered. On-site presence of at least two days per week is expected, with flexibility for the right candidate. A salary up to £135,000 is available, with some discretionary scope for supplement i.e. travel and accommodation support may also be considered where appropriate.
Next Steps:
Shortlisting is continually in progress, with virtual interviews provisionally set for 1st August. We will continue to consider expressions of interest and engage with candidates until the position is successfully appointed. If this advert is live, we are still very much open to hearing from you.
If you are a senior academic leader with a strong track record in health-care related higher education and are soon available for your next interim assignment, please contact Elyse Turner-Pearce as soon as possible.
