Anderson Quigley is delighted to be supporting a large UK University on the appointment of an Interim Pro Vice-Chancellor for their Faculty of Business and Law. This is a critical interim leadership role at a time of transition and renewal, with a strong focus on student recruitment, portfolio improvement and academic leadership. The assignment will begin ideally in early September and is expected to last 6-9 months, reporting to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Overview:

We are looking for an experienced academic leader with a strong background in business and management education, ideally gained within a UK business school context. An understanding of how to drive growth, improve student outcomes, and revitalise programme portfolios in a competitive market is crucial. The successful interim candidate will be expected to stabilise and strengthen the faculty’s position, with a particular focus on boosting student recruitment for 2026, enhancing the performance of underperforming programmes, and beginning the development of a refreshed product portfolio for future delivery. They will also assess team structures and contribute to workforce development and performance planning.

You will join a newly formed academic executive team, and while the interim PVCs will primarily focus on their respective faculties, there is significant scope to contribute institutionally. Experienced Deans, Executive Deans, PVCs and even DVCs are welcome to apply. What is key however is experience of leading academic teams through volatility and delivering measurable growth.

The university is open-minded on working patterns. While full-time availability is preferred, a 0.8 FTE arrangement may be considered. On-site presence of at least two days per week is expected, with flexibility for the right candidate. A salary up to £135,000 is offered, with some further market rate supplement potentially available for an especially strong business school leader. Day-rates may be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Next Steps:

Shortlisting is ongoing and virtual interviews are provisionally scheduled for 1st August. We will continue reviewing expressions of interest and holding conversations until the role is successfully filled. If you are reading this, we are still welcoming expressions of interest.

Therefore, if you are a senior academic leader with a strong background in innovative business school leadership, and you are soon available for an interim contract, please get in touch with Elyse Turner-Pearce ASAP.
