Anderson Quigley is delighted to be partnering once again with the London College of Contemporary Arts (LCCA) to lead the search for a new Academic Dean, for their soon to be launched Birmingham Campus. Please note, this will require an on-site presence of 3-4 days per week in Birmingham.

Who is LCCA?

LCCA is a modern, creative institution offering career-focused undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in fashion, graphic design, business management, and hospitality. With a student-centred approach, academically rigorous teaching, new campuses planned, and student numbers set to grow from c.9,000 to c.12,000, this is a transformative moment for an academic leader to join LCCA. Real-world learning, creative thinking, and inclusive education are at the heart of LCCA’s mission.

Overview:

Reporting to the newly appointed Executive Dean, the Academic Dean for Birmingham will lead all academic and administrative activity for LCCA’s Birmingham campus. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality, student-centred learning that reflects LCCA’s progressive pedagogy, drives student success, and meets the requirements of external regulators and awarding partners.

As a senior member of the academic team, you will provide vision, leadership and strategic direction, supporting Course Directors, Subject Leaders and academic staff to deliver outstanding teaching and learning. This is a pivotal role, responsible for student progression and outcomes, academic quality, curriculum enhancement, and supporting institutional KPIs (from student satisfaction and employability to retention and continuation).

The Academic Dean will also contribute to cross-campus leadership and play a key part in LCCA’s ambitious plans for UK wide growth, inclusion, and innovation.

Essential Criteria:

We are seeking an experienced academic leader, ideally at Head of School, Deputy Head of School, Head of Programmes or equivalent level, with a track record of operational leadership and academic delivery within higher education. You will bring experience of managing academic teams, improving teaching and learning, and fostering strong collaborative relationships with external university partners.

You will also need to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the QAA Framework, UK higher education policy, and widening participation, alongside a clear commitment to student-centred education and inclusive leadership. Experience of planning new course provision, working with online learning systems, and leading institutional change would also be advantageous.

Next Steps:

Please get in touch with Eva Tomka to discuss further. We will be shortlisting and interviewing on an ongoing basis until successful appointment, so early expressions of interest are encouraged.
