Interim Chief Student Officer, UK University

We’re working with a UK university to appoint an experienced interim leader to take on the role of Chief Student Officer, overseeing the end-to-end student journey during a pivotal period of transformation and cultural change.

This is a senior-level opportunity with a broad strategic and operational remit. You’ll lead on student wellbeing, engagement, success and inclusion, bringing together academic and professional services teams to deliver a joined-up, future-focused student experience. From enrolment to graduation (and beyond), you’ll be the driving force behind creating a vibrant, inclusive student environment.

You’ll be confident working at pace, navigating complexity, and influencing senior stakeholders. The university is looking for someone who can guide institutional priorities through a student-first lens, combining vision with operational rigour and empathy.

To be successful in this post, you’ll bring senior level experience in service design, transformation and leadership across complex organisations, ideally with a strong understanding of the higher education sector. You will also demonstrate:

1. A proven track record of improving student experience, engagement and outcomes
2. Experience leading large-scale transformation and regulatory compliance
3. A confident, collaborative leadership style that brings people with you
4. Data-informed decision-making and a strong grasp of risk, regulation and insight
