Anderson Quigley is delighted to bring to the market a genuinely fantastic opportunity to lead libraries, learning resources and information services for one of the UK’s fastest growing Higher Education Institutions.
Please note that this role requires fully on-site working, from any of their campuses in London, Manchester, Birmingham, or Leeds.
Who is GBS?
With over 40,000 students and 3 intakes per year, GBS is a leading educational institution and a gateway to diverse, industry-focused education. Operating across 10 vibrant UK campuses, GBS offers vocational, undergraduate, and postgraduate courses in skills gap based disciplines. GBS champions inclusivity and strives to provide opportunities for underrepresented groups. Their mission to boost students’ career prospects through strong employer connections and personalised academic and career guidance is more pertinent now than ever.
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Director to transform GBS’ library and learning resources into a cohesive, innovative Information Services team. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape digital and physical learning resources, fully integrating them into academic teaching while ensuring accessibility for one of the UK’s most diverse student communities. With a well-funded and radical approach to change, GBS UK is committed to widening participation, enhancing social mobility, and embedding inclusive educational practices. The successful leader will drive this transformation, fostering a creative and collaborative Libraries, Learning Resources and Information Services function for students and staff alike.
Essential Criteria:
The ideal leader will bring a strong strategic vision and a deep understanding of HE library and learning resource services, perhaps gained in a previous Head or Director role within Library, Learning Resources, and Information Services at a medium-large university or HEI with a WP student demographic.
You will have demonstrable experience in developing and implementing impactful strategies, managing budgets effectively, and integrating digital tools, including emerging technologies such as generative AI, into learning environments. The right person for this role will be motivated by the challenge of reshaping how students access knowledge and educational resources, with a passion for driving meaningful change in an institution that values creativity, collaboration, and inclusivity.
