We’re looking for an experienced educational leader ready to inspire and deliver change at an established international school in Spain. The English School of Asturias, a well-established British curriculum school in northern Spain seeks an exceptional Headteacher to lead the community, fostering a culture of academic excellence and innovation.

The school is part of Dukes Education and the International Education Partnership (IEP). Dukes own and operate schools across Europe and the UK, educating over 5000 students across Spain alone. The English School of Asturias is a 2–18 independent school situated in an idyllic rural setting between Oviedo and Gijón. The school has capacity for 1000 students, and offers students broad learning opportunities, as well as diverse development opportunities for staff.

The key challenges for the incoming Headteacher will be to continue development of the academic provision at the school, working with staff on teaching and learning initiatives to support high levels of student achievement focused on outcomes. There is also a requirement for curriculum development in the setting where shaping and refining the school’s British-based curriculum to meet the diverse needs of the students is required. This, coupled with driving admissions and student numbers, the appointee will work with IEP and the in-school support team to develop strategies to increase admissions and boost student roll. Additionally, the role brief requires cultural transformation toward distributed leadership, so an experienced Head is required to empower staff to cultivate a collaborative, positive school culture.

As an inspiring and adaptable Headteacher, you’ll bring a strong background in British education, a passion for student success, and experience in leading cultural change in an education context. Fluency in English is essential; Spanish language skills are advantageous.

The deadline for applications will be November 13. To be considered, please share a copy of your CV and a cover letter by clicking ‘Apply now’ below.
