Professorial Chair of Marketing and Director of BRISTT, University of Sheffield

Are you a distinguished scholar and leader of people with a passion for and expertise in any area of marketing including, but not limited to sustainable marketing, strategic marketing, digital marketing, marketing innovation and socially responsible?

The University of Sheffield invites applications for the position of Professor, offering a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to research, teaching, and leadership within the Department. As a Professor, you will be a driving force in shaping the future of the department and leaving a lasting impact on academia, industry, and society.

In this role, you will also assume the responsibility of Director of our emerging BRISTT Research Centre, leading and directing the initiative to contribute to its growth and success. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in developing a strong research portfolio, securing external funding, and leading impactful research programs. As a key figure in teaching excellence, you will demonstrate high-quality teaching practice, designing and delivering research-led teaching programs that foster effective learning.

Maintaining a strong academic and professional profile is integral to this role, achieved through high-quality publications, national and international engagement, and active participation in committees. Beyond these responsibilities, you will also have experience of other leadership roles, such as Head of Research Centre/Cluster, Research Development Director, or Head of Subject Group.

To be successful, you should possess a PhD in a relevant subject area and demonstrate expertise in any area of marketing as detailed above. Your outstanding Research track record should reflect internationally excellent or world-leading publications in Marketing or Business Management Journals, and you should present significant evidence of research impact beyond academia. Success in securing significant income/grant funding and managing externally funded projects and evidence of a healthy pipeline is essential.

Your experience should extend to leadership roles, including building effective research teams, mentoring and motivating colleagues, and contributing to their professional development. Excellent communication and diplomatic skills are crucial, alongside a strong commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion principles.

If you are a dedicated and accomplished academic ready to make a difference, we would welcome your application to join us at the University of Sheffield, where your expertise will shape the future of sustainable marketing and digital innovation. You will be a part of a vibrant academic community dedicated to excellence in research, teaching, and leadership where, together, we aim to create a transformative impact on the world.

Applications should consist of:

  • Letter of Application demonstrating your motivations for applying and relevant leadership experience.
  • Full Academic CV including a detailed history of your career total Grant/Funding Capture, including the amount of funding secured and details of funder (noting internal/external).
  • On no more than 2 sides of A4 a 3-year summary plan of Funding and Grant Capture aspirations, including identification of synergies with current colleagues in the School of Management, and potentially more broadly across the Faculty and University.
  • LIVE Links to your three ‘Favourite’ Journal Articles/Outputs and a brief rationale for selecting them from your body of work
