Interim Managing Director / Principal

Anderson Quigley is urgently looking for an interim HE leader for a 9-12 month contract, with the possibility of extension or a permanent position if both parties agree. This role requires an immediate/ASAP start, with the candidate needed on-site nearly full-time at the London HQ. Responsibilities will include day-to-day management and overall leadership of the institution and staff, academic and professional services management, liaison with the DfE, OfS and regulatory bodies, managing validating partnerships, and so on.


The institution has a financial turnover of up to £10m and is based in the East London area. This role is akin to a combination of Dean and COO, requiring credibility in both academic and professional services leadership. You will join at a challenging time for the provider, necessitating an experienced and resilient leader to navigate these challenges, implement new systems and processes, address resourcing and recruitment issues, enhance student recruitment and retention, and improve quality of provision and services.

Despite the immediate challenges, the foundation of the business is solid, and pending successful turnaround and overcoming immediate challenges, there is significant potential for them to resume being a high quality, commercially successful, career-focused education provider. This is a unique opportunity to play a crucial role in shaping the future and legacy of this private HE provider, leaving an indelible mark on the organisation.

Who we are looking for:

You will ideally be immediately available and flexible to consider an on-site campus based contract in East London for at least 9-12 months, and you may or may not be open minded to take on the role permanently. You may have currently or recently operated in an MD / Principal / Dean / Branch Campus Director / Campus Director / Institution level Academic or Professional Services leadership role.
