Position Overview:

As the Head of Practice, you will play a significant role in overseeing the development and implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing professional practice. You will work closely with internal teams to identify key areas for improvement. This role requires a dynamic individual with a background in Psychology, excellent leadership skills, and a keen understanding of delivering practice programmes of work that offer members value.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programmes to support practitioners in maintaining and enhancing their skills and knowledge.
  • Produce professional guidance and resources to assist practitioners in their day-to-day work, ensuring alignment with relevant policies, latest research, and best practices.
  • Review existing guidance and practices to identify areas for improvement and ensure they remain up-to-date and relevant.
  • Work collaboratively with internal research and insight teams to identify gaps in current practices and develop strategies to address them.
  • Assemble groups from the membership with the appropriate skills and professional background to co-produce various practice-related initiatives.
  • Anticipate and respond to workforce needs, practitioner development needs and routes into training.
  • Demonstrate commercial awareness by exploring opportunities to generate income through practice-related activities and services.
  • Manage three direct reports Professional Practice & Development Manager, Workforce Development Manager, Qualifications Manager

Requirements:

  • You must hold a Psychology degree or equivalent qualification, with a deep understanding of the principles and practices of psychology.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the field of Psychology, with a track record of driving initiatives and achieving results.
  • Strong understanding of the wider professional context of the delivery of psychological, services in  public sector settings such as NHS, Government, Education and the private sector would be useful.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to make informed judgments on complex issues and provide guidance accordingly.
  • Experience managing teams and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
