With a student community of almost 30,000 and over 2,700 staff, Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) is a distinctive, unique institution, rooted in the Liverpool City Region and with a global presence. Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong. Working with the people of Liverpool to improve lives and support communities is at the heart of why we were founded and why we exist today.
We are now seeking to appoint a Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC), External Engagement and Partnerships. This is a newly created role focused on further enhancing LJMU’s civic reputation by driving forward the University’s partnerships and collaborations, leading and further developing relationships with city leaders, local, regional, and national industry and institutional partners, and collaborative partners nationally and internationally. Reporting to the Vice-Chancellor, the PVC will enhance and implement plans that build on the skills within the University in relation to entrepreneurship and engagement with businesses and grow our reputation for ethical partnership working.
You will have significant senior strategic leadership and management experience, including a record of representing and championing an organisation, raising its profile and increasing its impact and influence. You will have the ability to nurture strong networks and build sustainable relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. You will also demonstrate an understanding of regional and national economic priorities and the role of higher education in positively impacting upon them.
You will bring a strong strategic orientation, excellent communication skills and demonstrable commercial acumen. You will be enterprising, resilient, and ambitious for our university, as well as a passionate promoter of a diverse and inclusive working environment.
In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.
Closing date is noon on Thursday 28th March 2024.
We would encourage applications from all individuals who meet the advert criteria, but would particularly encourage applications from women; ethnically diverse groups, LGBTQ+ groups; and disabled people. The university is proud of its commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and endeavours to cultivate a staff base that is representative of society. Please let us know if you require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process.
