Interim Head of IT

Anderson Quigley is delighted to be working once again with University Academy 92 (UA92) on the immediate appointment of an interim IT leader. This is for an initial 6-month period, to start ASAP or January 2024 at the latest, on a hybrid working basis (3 days on-site). We will consider someone full-time or part-time (0.6 FTE minimum). It is preferable that the role is remunerated on a salaried basis, but we will also consider an inside IR35 day-rate. Travel expenses will be considered, and accommodation is available at preferential rates.

Overview of the role:

We are looking for a dynamic Interim IT leader to spearhead a crucial transformation within UA92’s IT department. This role presents a unique chance for a hands-on IT leader to make a substantial impact, driving operational change and contributing to the overall success of this forward-thinking, disruptive, and social purpose driven organisation. Essential Criteria:

In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of 8 (once fully resourced), overseeing all aspects of IT operations. Your responsibilities will include establishing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and collaborating closely with their accrediting partner, Lancaster University, on IT-related matters. Drawing upon your proven IT leadership experience, you will assess the current team, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring alignment with UA92’s objectives and providing value for money.

This is not just a leadership position; it’s an opportunity to lead from the front in a start-up / scaleup environment. You will leverage your technical expertise in audio-visual technology, O365 suite, and network infrastructure to bring about transformative change. Your project management skills, particularly in CRM projects and digital transformation, will be crucial as UA92 embarks on new initiatives, such as a new Student Records System and an AV refit in 2024, to name a few. You will also be responsible for justifying a self-generating budget, ensuring a focus on essential priorities and fostering positive relationships, as well as ensuring stake-holder trust and buy-in.
