We are seeking a new University Secretary, Director of Governance, Legal and Communications who will assume executive responsibility and overall strategic direction and leadership of corporate governance, risk management, internal audit, information governance, regulatory compliance, and legal affairs. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the postholder will also act as Secretary to the University Council and Senate, as outlined in the University’s Statutes.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate evidence of working successfully with complex governance structures and will likely have held senior positions in the Higher Education or Further Education sector. They will have a thorough knowledge of corporate governance and secretariat-related services, delivered in large institutions and they will be able to apply their knowledge in a pragmatic and flexible manner, working with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver across all areas of the portfolio, with and through a high performing team of professional experts.
