The University of Leeds is one of the UK’s largest higher education institutions, and we are renowned globally for the quality of our teaching and research. We encourage enquiry, discovery, and achievement by bringing together academic excellence and an inspirational learning environment. Our ambitions are underpinned by an outstanding community of staff and students, a world-class campus and a strong financial position.
Led by Ann Allen, Director of Campus Innovation and Development and with 1,100 staff, the Facilities Directorate is responsible for the development and maintenance of the University estate, commercial and campus support services, residences and sustainability services. Our mission is to provide first-class services to staff, students and visitors supporting the University’s strategic objectives and world class aspirations, with our new three-year business plan entitled ‘Our Way Ahead’ focussing on building communities, both within the service and across the wider University and beyond.
Following retirements and promotions we are restructuring the Directorate and appointing to three new Director level positions. Our campus is integral to the experience of students, staff, and visitors, it creates a sense of place and of belonging. Leading a large team across cleaning, security, helpdesk, the AV team, booking systems, sport, print, nursery, events, business continuity, marketing and communication, our new Director will ensure that what we deliver positively impacts how everyone experiences the campus.
This senior role has been created to bring together the soft FM and the commercial services so that they can be delivered with a sense of collaboration. The role will require significant senior level experience in an appropriate discipline which may include, but not exclusively, facilities management, retail, leisure, sport, commercial activities, hospitality, customer service or similar. With evidence of driving a strong customer-service ethos, and a commitment to champion a service culture that meets the diverse needs of our customers, you will bring a successful track record in driving innovation and change management, and in particular, expertly managing the people aspects of change.
Closing date: noon on Monday 3rd April 2023.
