Anderson Quigley is currently working with a Higher Education Provider to identify their new Head of Applications. Application Support & Development Services is part of the Library and Information Technology Services department, which is led by the CIO.  The team manages the comprehensive suite of applications that support vital services; integration and data services technologies; workflow engines and customer-facing applications that support the Staff and Student experience

The group is responsible for both tactical and strategic development of solutions. Its focus is on the development, implementation, integration, business insight and delivery and support of business application and platforms for the University. The team also provides 2nd and 3rd line applications support.

The University is seeking a highly capable and experienced technology leader who is equally adept at working with technical staff, professional services staff, academic colleagues and external partners. The Head of Application & Development Services will lead the strategy for a new target state architecture and ensure the security and reliability of all core business applications that underpin the Universities’ service offerings to its students and staff.  The post holder will be effective in building partnerships with stakeholders, at all levels across the University.  They will also be skilled in developing links with external suppliers and partners across the technology and Higher Education sectors. The role will provide the leadership in creating and running a dev/ops style delivery model. They will also help map out the current “as-is” architecture and helping design and migrate a target state design. Experience in effective resource management and working with project teams to ensure delivery is effectively resourced and managed, is key to the success of this role.  In addition, experience in leading an effective system testing approach, for both function and load, is paramount.

The successful candidate will be a highly effective communicator and capable being understood by technical and non-technical audiences. You should have a track record of technical leadership, that ensures that business benefits are derived from the application portfolio.

Salary circa 70k + excellent benefits.
