The University of Portsmouth has embraced change to create a new breed of university, where collaboration and partnership underpin the way in which we work. We believe that a university’s primary purpose is to educate and transform lives, but also to transform the lives of those around us. Our mission is to become the UK’s top modern university by 2030 and one of the top 100 young universities in the world.

We are committed to widening participation in higher education for those who might not have considered going to university in the past and in 2024 will open a new campus in Waltham Forest, north-east London. In 2019 Waltham Forest was named the first ever Borough of Culture, the legacy of that year is everywhere with the area fast

becoming a centre of world-class creativity, with culture on every corner. Working in collaboration with our partners Northchild, we are bringing a world-class modern university to this diverse, vibrant corner of London.

University of Portsmouth London will offer both undergraduate and postgraduate opportunities for home and international students. Housed in purpose-built, brand-new buildings we will be open 9am-9pm, seven-days a week supporting our students through an academic offer that will initially focus on broad technology and business programmes. Our new Principal will be directly employed by the University of Portsmouth, reporting to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

We are looking for an inspiring and ambitious leader with significant academic leadership experience and entrepreneurial drive to spearhead the establishment, opening and running of our new partnership driven campus. Our Principal will embody our educational ambitions and our civic mission, providing full strategic leadership and operational direction to help us achieve our ambitious vision of making UoP London a leading university centre in this important location.

Closing date: midday, Monday 23 January 2023.
