International Women’s Day 2026 | Webinar: Giving to gain through mentorship

Date: Thursday 5 March, 2026
Time: 12.30-1.15pm
Location: MS Teams Webinar

The 2026 official International Women’s Day theme is ‘Give to Gain’, which “emphasizes the power of reciprocity and support. When people, organizations, and communities give generously, opportunities and support for women increase. Giving is not a subtraction, it’s intentional multiplication. When women thrive, we all rise. Whether through donations, knowledge, resources, infrastructure, visibility, advocacy, education, training, mentoring, or time, contributing to women’s advancement helps create a more supportive and interconnected world.”

AQ’s Women in Tech group is proud to present our next webinar, “Giving to gain through mentorship”, hosted by Grace Tattersall and featuring three senior tech leaders who will explore how mentorship has shaped their career advancements, both by being mentored throughout their careers, as well as being able to pass on that knowledge and support through mentoring as they have grown. The webinar will share tips on how to find the right mentor/mentee, and highlight how mentorship can accelerates career growth, boosts confidence, and improves performance for mentees, while providing leadership development, networking, and personal satisfaction for mentors.

There is real power in mentorship, which is why we are thrilled to be developing our matchmaking mentorship programme – connecting those within our women in tech group, and wider AQ networks, to support each other through informal mentoring. If you’d like to be part of this programme, either as a mentor or mentee, please respond accordingly on the registration form for the webinar and we will be in touch with further information; if you can’t attend the webinar, but would also like to be part of the programme, please complete webinar registration form.

Lara Burns | Consultant and Advisory Board Member

Lara is a Consultant in digital transformation, with a focus on supporting organisations with strategy and developing high-performing teams. Over the last twenty years, she has mentored a variety of people in digital/tech roles in the NFP sector, as well as building and developing her own teams. She’s also been mentored herself, with one relationship being key to stepping up to a leadership position.

Malvina Gooding | Founder at Northstar Wisdom ; Founder & Principal Advisor at Hever ICT Limited

Malvina operates at the intersection of technical transformation and human potential. With a career including leadership roles at Goldsmiths, The University of Sussex, and LSBU, she established a reputation for delivering major operational and digital change. Confronted by Imposter Syndrome and working with her first mentor, Malvina realised that effective leadership required finding your own “NorthStar.” She applied what she learned as a mentor and mentee to show up authentically and true to herself; not just accepting leadership roles but owning the lead role in her life.

Today, she channels this expertise through two distinct vehicles: Hever ICT, for business insight and technical consultancy and NorthStar Wisdom, for holistic Leadership and mentorship. Her philosophy is rooted in autonomy, believing that true mentorship does not provide a roadmap, as that only encourages leaders to follow someone else’s path. Instead, providing the navigational tools individuals need to determine their own direction.

Her mentorship portfolio is a hybrid of institutional service and direct demand. She mentors on behalf of organisations including The Girls’ Network, the CIO 100 Awards programme and The Aspire Foundation and also supports a private cohort of individuals, ranging from Peers, Founders, Entrepreneurs, and Managing Directors globally, who seek her guidance directly through professional recommendation. Malvina sees mentoring as a joint journey, avoiding prescriptive advice, she equips individuals with tools and frameworks developed through her own career journey. These objective methods empower leaders to interpret their own signals and work out their NorthStar with absolute confidence.

Sarah Oyet | Head of Infrastructure and Applications Support at London South Bank University

Sarah is the Head of Infrastructure and Application Support at LSBU, where she has led multi-disciplinary IT teams across core infrastructure and business applications for over a decade. A Chartered Manager and a beneficiary of mentoring herself, her leadership is shaped by extensive experience in transformation delivery and guiding teams through change, grounded in trust, resilience, and clarity.

She is passionate about developing people and sharing knowledge to build confidence, capability, and long-term career progression. Sarah is also deeply committed to advancing diversity and inclusion in IT leadership and to creating inclusive environments where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive and succeed.

Drawing on her experience leading technical teams, a mentee and now a mentor, Sarah brings practical insight, perspective, and calm guidance to those navigating their careers, helping them realise their potential, build effective habits, and progress towards their goals with clarity and purpose. She is currently a mentor on the Global Majority Mentoring Programme and is also undertaking the Vision 101 Mentorship Programme as part of her own personal development.
