On 14 June 2023, AQ hosted the inaugural Women in Tech event for female tech leaders in the higher education, not-for-profit and the wider public sectors, an opportunity for women to openly and safely discuss the challenges they face in the workplace.
It was an insightful and collaborative afternoon wonderfully chaired by Femi Otitoju from EW Group and hosted by AQ Partner Grace Tattersall.
The panellists shared their career journeys and experiences of their diverse technology roles and discussed how we can all champion and affect change to get more women into senior leadership technology roles, both executive and non-executive.
Yvonne Hanson-Mills, CIO at Art Fund, shared her experiences around becoming a CIO in a male-dominated workspace, Kate Davies, former Chief Executive of Notting Hill Genesis told attendees how she developed diverse teams during her tenure at Notting Hill, and Elizabeth ONeill, Head of Projects and Change at Charities Aid Foundation divulged how she helps technical experts become great leaders with her coaching and mentoring skills.
Prior to joining AQ in 2022, Grace cultivated a Women in Tech group and event space and wanted to carry this on, saying:
“It’s so important to have a safe space to network with women, something that is accessible and welcoming, somewhere you can meet like-minded folk and have valuable conversations.”
