Head of Technology Solutions

Location: London (Hybrid working)

Salary: £80,958 + £3,500 location allowance (LA) per year

Are you ready to lead the design and development of innovative technology solutions that transform user experiences? We’re seeking a Head of Technology Solutions to drive the end-to-end delivery of scalable, secure, and user-centred digital platforms for a national organisation with a meaningful mission.

This role will oversee enterprise and solution architecture, UX and experience design, software development, and business analysis. You’ll ensure technology solutions align with strategic priorities and deliver exceptional experiences for staff, volunteers, and members.

What you’ll do

• Solution Architecture Leadership: Design scalable, secure, and user-centred technology solutions using reusable architecture and design patterns aligned with organisational objectives.
• Solution Development: Oversee development and testing across digital platforms using agile and iterative methodologies.
• Performance Management: Lead the solution team and manage internal and external development resources, ensuring high-quality performance and maintainable codebases.
• Solution Design: Drive user research and UX practices to improve service design and accessibility across all technology touchpoints.
• Business Analysis: Translate business needs into clear technical requirements through robust analysis.
• Solution Delivery: Collaborate with technology operations to enable rapid and secure product delivery through DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.
• Platform Performance: Provide third-line support, manage technical debt, and ensure systems evolve with best practice and innovation.
• People & Capability Development: Lead a skilled, multidisciplinary team focused on continuous learning, diversity, and inclusive leadership.

Person Specification

Experience

• Technology Development: Experience leading digital product or service development, or equivalent demonstrable impact in a complex environment (Essential).
• Enterprise Architecture: Track record of designing enterprise and solution architectures for complex organisations (Desirable).
• Development Management: Experience managing development teams using DevOps or agile methodologies (Essential).
• Design Standards: Proven experience in user experience (UX) and service design leadership (Desirable).

Knowledge

• Enterprise Architecture: Strong understanding of solution architecture, system integration, and cloud technologies (Essential).
• Development Technologies: Knowledge of modern web frameworks, API design, CI/CD pipelines and test automation (Essential).
• Accessibility: Understanding of inclusive design, WCAG standards and service design methodologies (Desirable).
