Head of Data
Location: London (Hybrid working)
Salary: £75,327 + £3,500 LW
Are you passionate about using data to drive transformation and impact? We’re looking for a Head of Data to lead a pivotal function within a national organisation committed to making a difference.
This role is central to enabling a major digital transformation, ensuring data empowers volunteers, members, and staff to deliver the mission effectively, inclusively, and securely. As the organisation’s lead data expert, you will shape and own the data strategy, governance, and analytics capabilities, championing a data-led culture and improving data maturity across the network.
What you’ll do
- Data Strategy: Develop and deliver a comprehensive data strategy aligned with organisational priorities.
- Leadership: Collaborate with senior leaders on performance reporting and strategic evaluation.
- Governance: Establish robust frameworks for data management, compliance, and ethical use.
- Systems & Architecture: Oversee data platforms, analytics tools, and enterprise architecture to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient access.
- Insight & Reporting: Transform data into actionable intelligence, delivering high-quality dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics.
Person Specification
Experience
- Data Service Leadership: Proven experience in leading a data function or BI team, including architects and analysts, in a complex organisation (Essential).
- Data Strategy Delivery: Track record of developing and delivering organisational data strategies and roadmaps (Essential).
- Data Platform Management: Experience managing data platforms, data warehouses or cloud-based analytics tools (Desirable).
- Data Compliance: Experience developing data policies and applying data protection and ethical frameworks to data projects (Desirable).
Knowledge
- Data Management Principles: Deep understanding of data governance, architecture, master data management, and data lifecycle practices (Essential).
- BI Technologies: Good working knowledge of BI technologies including data lake, warehouse, integration services, and cloud-based analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Azure, Snowflake) (Desirable).
- Data Compliance Standards: Knowledge of data protection legislation (e.g., GDPR), risk and ethical use of data standards (Essential).
