Chair and Deputy Chairs (x2), Greater Manchester Business Alliance
Greater Manchester is entering a new chapter, with a renewed focus on building a greener, fairer and more prosperous city-region. To help lead this work, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is establishing a new Business Alliance; a central forum that will bring together insight, experience and leadership from across our diverse business community. The Alliance will connect flagship firms, high-growth companies, social enterprises, co-operatives, start-ups, minority-led organisations and many others, creating a more joined-up and representative approach to business engagement.
We are now seeking a Chair and two Deputy Chairs to guide this new body. These roles offer a significant opportunity to help shape Greater Manchester’s long-term economic ambitions and ensure business plays a full and active role in delivering the Greater Manchester Strategy, with its commitment to growing the economy and ensuring everyone can live well.
As Chair or Deputy, you will work closely with the Mayor, GMCA Leaders and the Chief Executive to provide direction, encourage constructive challenge and help translate insight into practical action. You will help ensure that the Alliance reflects the breadth of voices across Greater Manchester and that its work contributes meaningfully to key priorities including innovation, productivity, net zero and the development of our ten-year integrated economic pipeline.
We are keen to attract a wide range of candidates. You might come from a large employer, a smaller growth business, a voluntary or social enterprise, an employee-owned model or a sector that has not always been represented in regional leadership spaces. What matters is that you bring strong senior-level experience, a deep understanding of Greater Manchester, and a commitment to collaborative, inclusive and partnership-driven leadership.
This is a unique chance to influence the future direction of our city-region and help create the conditions in which businesses of all kinds can succeed.
If you are passionate about Greater Manchester and want to contribute to its next decade of progress, we would be delighted to hear from you.
