Job Title: Interim Cancer Operations Manager

Reports to: Director of Operations

Location: Wales

Contract: 6 months

You will be required to be on site 4 days per week

Job Purpose:

The Interim Cancer Operations Manager will lead the strategic and operational delivery of cancer services, ensuring compliance with national cancer targets, improving patient pathways, and enhancing service efficiency. Working within the triumvirate, this role requires close collaboration with clinical and managerial teams to drive performance, innovation, and quality improvement across cancer services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the operational management of cancer services, ensuring delivery against NHS cancer targets
  • Support the introduction and delivery of an improvement plan, bring pace, clarity of roles and responsibilities and time frames
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient flow, reduce waiting times, and enhance service efficiency.
  • Oversee workforce planning, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet service demands.
  • Monitor performance data, producing reports and action plans to address underperformance.
  • Lead on cancer pathway transformation projects and service improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with clinical leads, divisional managers, and external stakeholders to ensure integrated, high-quality patient care.
  • Manage budgets effectively, ensuring financial sustainability and value for money.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, regulatory, and quality standards in cancer care delivery.

Essential Criteria:

  • Significant experience in operational management within the NHS
  • Expert knowledge in Cancer services
  • Strong leadership and change management skills
  • Knowledge of national cancer targets, pathways, and NHS service improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to analyse complex data, develop strategic plans, and drive performance improvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Budget and resource management experience.
  • Ability to work at pace and deliver high quality services
