Appointment of the Chief Executive Officer

Tees Valley Collaborative Trust

Welcome

It is my privilege to welcome your application to become the CEO of Tees Valley Collaborative Trust. As a Trust, we are dedicated to working across the educational phases, believing that doing so will benefit the educational journey for all our students.

Tees Valley Collaborative Trust prides itself on the commitment of all our academies to provide a supportive and inclusive environment, where learners feel safe and inspired.  With enthusiasm and determination from all leaders and staff, we ensure that every learner can achieve and has the confidence to progress successfully onto their next stage.

Our ambition is to continue to grow in the future, working with schools that share our ethos to remove barriers to achievement and improve the life chances of young people. We aspire to expand the Trust beyond the current geographical region and are in search of an exceptional leader to support this vision.

I hope that the information that follows will give you further insight into our Trust.

Dr Keith Hurst
Chair of the Board

About the Trust

The Trust is currently situated in and focused on the Tees Valley in the Northeast of England. We aspire to provide ‘all through’ provision, not necessarily in the sense that a local learner would join our nursery and ultimately graduate from our Sixth Form College. Instead, our goal is to offer inclusive education opportunities at all levels before students enter the workforce or pursue university studies. Fundamentally, we are dedicated to achieving excellence through inclusion.

Our trust is committed to delivering high-quality education and empowering students to reach their full potential. We are devoted to fostering innovation, excellence, and collaboration to enrich the educational experiences of students and contribute to the local community. Our long-term plan is to expand the Trust, and the CEO will play a key role in this ambition.

Our Vision

We believe that increased collaboration across the educational phases will benefit all learners throughout their educational journey. The Trust exists to promote and facilitate collaboration between schools and the college to our mutual benefit.

The partners in our Trust accept a shared accountability for all our learners, and focus on ensuring positive outcomes and progression, particularly at transition points, across the key stages.

Aspiring to become an all-through provision, our innovative approach to learning seeks to promote ambition and aspiration in our students. In a secure environment, the Trust promotes the keys to success for our young people, benefitting both their future and the region.

Our Aims

Our Trust aims to instil a love of learning through the provision of exceptional quality education, inspiring and supporting every learner to fulfil their potential, enhance their personal development, and benefit their community.

We will recruit and retain teachers, support staff and managers of the highest calibre by investing in their professional development through training and progression opportunities. Our schools and colleges will offer a friendly, caring environment with high expectations, aspirations, and supporting the highest levels of achievement.

Our Trust will work through partnership with employers, community groups and other agencies to make the Tees Valley a great place to live, learn and work.

Our academies

Prior Pursglove and Stockton Sixth Form College is a highly regarded 16-19 academy with two sites in Guisborough and Stockton on Tees. Formed in 2016 from the merger of two sixth form colleges, it is one of the most successful colleges on Teesside. The college serves a diverse group of students across several boroughs, benefitting from an expert staff team who enable best practice to be shared across the two sites, and refine the educational experience for all learners.

Both sites deliver excellent outcomes, provide high retention in education, harness good progress towards target grades and enable outstanding destinations in higher education, apprenticeships and employment. The quality of teaching, learning, and assessment is fully aligned in all faculties to ensure all students receive a high-quality experience, regardless of the site they enrol at. The shared leadership team across both sites ensures consistency in service.

The college is known for its commitment to widening participation and providing access to education for all. The overwhelming majority of students achieve their aspirational targets regardless of their prior attainment levels. The college also provides effective support for students progressing to Russell Group Universities, including  Oxbridge, as well as higher apprenticeships.

Errington Primary School is dedicated to providing a bespoke and vibrant educational experience that excites, intrigues, and lays the foundation for future learning. The school nurtures inquiring minds that question, evaluate, and process information in an environment that both nurtures and challenges. The focus is around the whole child, ensuring a wide, varied, and current curriculum. Errington is committed to developing skills for life, investing in pupils and staff, providing children with opportunities to develop high levels of independence, giving them a voice, and empowering them to make a difference.

Errington is well equipped and has a rolling programme of modernisation and improvement. Students have access to the latest technology and can participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities. The school has enhanced its outdoor areas to further develop aspects of learning and provide enriching experiences.

Bishopton Pupil Referral Unit is an environment where every student can achieve and succeed. The unit focuses on developing and nurturing the whole child, with an aim to support the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of each student. Bishopton provide a caring and supportive environment with a clear sense of purpose, designed to develop students’ academic potential and increase respect, discipline, and confidence.

At Bishopton, there is a strong emphasis on pastoral support, and the staff intentionally work with students to build their confidence and to cultivate a love of learning. Recognising that many students may have missed key elements of their previous education, Bishopton offers a rigorous program to bridge these gaps, ensuring that students can progress, thereby enjoying success in the next stage of their education.
