Appointment of the Chief Executive Officer

Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine

Welcome

Dear Candidate

We would like to thank you for your interest in becoming the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Institute of Physics & Engineering in Medicine (IPEM).

IPEM is in a strong position with a growing and capable staff and a long-term plan for growth and diversification. That said, we are not resting on our laurels and wish for the new chief executive to review and revise (if needed) this plan and ensure that it becomes an organisation-wide undertaking with a strong appeal to stakeholders, members, groups beyond our current membership and the public.

Accountable to the Board of Trustees and working closely with the President and Chair of the Board, as our new Chief Executive you will be a strategic thinker capable of driving a high trust working culture and delivering growth. You will have experience at a high level in professional, not-for-profit, business or public sector organisations and be ready to shape IPEM’s future with your skills, knowledge, experience and creative ideas.

An experienced leader, you will be capable of motivating IPEM’s team of 30 people, directly supporting the senior leadership team in the delivery of their operational plans and working with volunteers at all levels. You will have experience of governance, will have worked closely with boards, and have experience of leading and providing volunteers with timely and effective information and advice. You will understand financial control and the compliance regime required to run a charity. Above all, you will have an instinct for how a membership organisation like IPEM can create and enhance public value.

If you think you have the skills and capability to lead the next chapter in IPEM’s story, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Anna Barnes, IPEM President
Jason Wilde, Chair of the Board
