Appointment of Digital Champions to the School of Policy and Global Affairs

City St George's, University of London

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in joining the School of Policy and Global Affairs (SPGA) at City St George’s, University of London. I’m delighted that you are considering becoming part of our vibrant academic community—a place where bold ideas, transformative teaching, and world-class research come together to shape society for the better.

SPGA is home to three dynamic and ambitious departments: Economics, International Politics, and Sociology & Criminology. Together, we serve over 2,500 students and employ more than 100 academic and professional staff. Our School is recognised for its deep commitment to excellence in research and education, and for the social impact our work has both locally and globally.

This is a particularly exciting moment in our journey. As we look ahead to the future of higher education, we are investing significantly in our digital capabilities and pedagogies. As part of this, we are appointing four Digital Champions—one in each department, with two in Economics, reflecting the department’s size and strategic focus. These roles are a key part of our ambition to embed digital innovation across our teaching and research practices.

Our Digital Champions will play a central role in transforming how we deliver education and engage with students. They will lead the creation of high-quality, asynchronous learning materials, support and mentor colleagues to grow their digital confidence, and act as strategic partners in shaping the university’s digital infrastructure. It is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution—not just to your department, but to the future direction of SPGA and City St George’s as a whole.

At City St George’s, we are proud to be a values-driven institution. Our culture is rooted in care, learning and action. We are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion, and we believe strongly in the power of education to create opportunity and positive change. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are especially keen to hear from individuals who will bring diverse experiences and perspectives to our community.

If you are a passionate educator and researcher with a strong digital orientation—and excited by the chance to help shape what teaching and learning in the social sciences can look like in the years to come—we would be thrilled to hear from you.

Thank you once again for your interest. I hope to have the opportunity to welcome you to our School in the near future.

Warmest regards,

Professor Charles Lees
