Welcome

Welcome from the Chair of the Board

Thank you for your interest in South Bank Colleges and in the role of Chair of our Quality Committee.

As part of the LSBU Group, South Bank Colleges is driven by a simple but powerful purpose: transforming lives through education. Every day, we support thousands of learners from diverse backgrounds to develop the skills, confidence and qualifications they need to achieve their ambitions, progress into employment or higher education, and make a positive contribution to their communities.

We are ambitious for our students, our staff and the communities we serve. We recognise the vital role that further education plays in creating opportunity, supporting social mobility and responding to the evolving needs of employers and the wider economy. Ensuring that every learner receives an outstanding educational experience is therefore at the heart of our mission.

The Quality Committee is one of the Governing Body’s most important committees. It provides assurance and challenge on matters relating to educational quality, student achievement, teaching and learning, curriculum development, safeguarding and the overall student experience. The Chair of the Committee plays a critical leadership role, helping governors understand performance, identify opportunities for improvement and maintain an unwavering focus on the success of our learners.

We are seeking an individual with the experience, insight and judgement to provide effective strategic oversight and constructive challenge. While experience within further education would be valuable, we are equally interested in hearing from candidates who have developed strong governance, leadership or board-level expertise in other sectors and who share our commitment to excellence and opportunity.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to an organisation that changes lives every day. You will work alongside talented fellow governors, dedicated senior leaders and passionate staff, helping to shape the future direction of South Bank Colleges and enhance outcomes for current and future generations of learners.

On behalf of the Governing Body, thank you for considering this important role. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive Board and welcome applications from individuals whose experiences and perspectives reflect the rich diversity of the communities we serve.

Do feel free to contact our advising consultants at Anderson Quigley for an informal and confidential conversation. Details can be found on this microsite.
