Partnering with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation to support young people’s career ambitions

RIO FERDINAND FOUNDATION AND ANDERSON QUIGLEY WORKING TOGETHER
TO SUPPORT YOUNG PEOPLE WITH THEIR CAREER AMBITIONS.

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation and Anderson Quigley (AQ) are excited to announce a partnership that will support the Foundation’s Pathways to Achievement programmes; helping to raise aspirations and improve employability for young people.

Young people in the UK and particularly those living in economically deprived communities have been disproportionally affected by Covid19.  The reduction of face-to-face education, lack of training and fewer employment opportunities has over the last year caused a major skills and opportunities gap.  It is this gap that the Rio Ferdinand Foundation is helping to close in communities across London, Greater Manchester and Northern Ireland with purpose driven programmes.

Members of the Anderson Quigley team will take part in virtual Q&A sessions, bespoke workshops and one-to-one mentoring programmes to provide the Foundation’s young cohorts with essential employability skills, help to widen their employer networks and give career guidance.  The Foundation’s programmes merge wellbeing with digital employability and entrepreneurial development to support young people aged 14 – 25 to explore the personal and technical skills needed to start their chosen careers and involve four key stages: Connections, Raising Aspirations, Employability and Ambassadors.

Gary Stannett, CEO of the Rio Ferdinand Foundation said:

“As we adapt to the challenges the Covid19 pandemic has produced for people and the economy, it is more imperative than ever that forward thinking charities and businesses work together to provide the resources, support and skills for young people to build a sustainable future and reach their potential. Our work with Anderson Quigley is a great example of how we work with business to support and mentor people, and we are very pleased to announce this partnership in London and across the UK.”

Nicki Pritchard, Managing Partner at Anderson Quigley said:

“What started as an initial sponsorship opportunity for a specific campaign quickly moved to something much more exciting as we discussed with the Foundation how AQ could offer our skills and expertise and cement a more robust and long-term partnership. We are very proud to be able to share our team’s immense knowledge and experiences to support young people in both our local community of South London and more widely across the UK.  We hope that this work with future talent will play a positive role in developing the country’s future leaders.”

About the Rio Ferdinand Foundation:

Rio Ferdinand set up his Foundation in 2012 so that he could have a closer relationship with his charitable work and tackle social issues important to him. The Rio Ferdinand Foundation works collaboratively with young people and communities to deliver progression pathways aimed at ensuring young people are socially mobile and empowered to be independent, take control of their lives and achieve their full potential. Recognising that sports, media and the creative arts are great motivating factors for young people, the Foundation utilises those mediums and Rio’s connections within those industries, to provide a pathway for youth development. Our work delivers under four strategic pillars: Sport & Social Inclusion, Health & Wellbeing, Safer & Stronger Communities and Skills & Training.
