HE welcomes a new Covid cohort – and a fresh set of challenges

Kiersten Avery penned this article for University Business, discussing the new challenges in Higher Ed two and a half years from the onset of the pandemic.

She says, “At the onset of the pandemic, universities around the world were forced to pivot almost overnight to fully virtual modes of course delivery and assessment.

The world of higher education is now well acquainted with these remote and hybrid methods, with most still offering blended learning, however the related challenges of this period of adaptation are far from over. Experts across the sector have discussed at length the issues faced by the generation of students who completed their degrees mid-pandemic.

As this cohort now prepares for graduation, we must turn our focus to a new generation of Covid students – those who completed their A-levels in lockdown and bring a fresh set of challenges to a sector already immersed in a period of change and transformation.”
