Appointment of the Head

Eaton House Belgravia

Welcome

Eaton House Belgravia is a very special school, not least because of its stunning location just moments away from Sloane Square. It has a long history, some interesting alumni but, most importantly it has a team of committed staff and wonderful pupils. Schools, fundamentally, are not primarily about buildings and facilities (though these are important, of course), but are about the people- staff and children. As the new Principal of the Eaton House group of schools, I see a really lovely sense of community at the school. What has struck me is the energy and the sheer love of learning that is apparent around the school. The children are so keen to do well in the classroom but I can also see the quality of their friendships. They conduct themselves with kindness, showing respect to those around them.  And it is clear to see how much they enjoy their school lives.

With boys and girls in our Nursery, the children love learning alongside each other. From Reception to Year 3, the boys engage in the wonderful opportunities the school offers. Of course, we are focused on getting the boys into the ‘right’ schools at 7+ and 8+, but we also want them to love coming to school, to enjoy time with their friends and to engage in the many activities, events and clubs that we offer. The exciting curriculum, the excellent facilities, and the dedication of our teaching team means that our children frequently surpass our expectations, and the vast majority gain offers from their school of first choice. The classrooms alongside the additional space for teachers to use as ‘breakout rooms’, the beautifully designed library, the blossoming terrace garden, the martial arts dojo which doubles as a soft play space and the studio all contribute to a fabulous learning environment for our pupils. I am never content with ‘standing still’ so I am very pleased that in the immediate future, we are improving the furniture and resources for our youngest children.

Eaton House Belgravia is part of the Eaton House group of schools. This means that the Head very much runs the school but also has the support and professional camaraderie of the other four Heads in the group. As the Principal, it is an absolute joy to be working with such a talented team of Heads, who are brimming with ideas and enthusiasm. In addition, the dynamic of being part of the Dukes Education family means that you will access outstanding professional training and development, and you will have the great advantage of sharing experiences and ideas with a large group of dedicated Heads, supported by expertise and advice from the wider Dukes team.

In the challenging climate that is facing the independent schools’ sector, the Head will need to be an excellent communicator who forms positive relationships with our major stakeholders: the staff, the parents and, of course, the children. You will also need to be able to communicate the message of what this exceptional school offers, whether that is via social media, refreshing the website, writing articles or speaking at various events. In other words, you will have every opportunity to make your mark on the educational life of this school. If leading this school for the next stage in its development appeals to you, I would love to meet you.

Principal

About Dukes Education

Eaton House Schools Group is proud to have joined the Dukes Education family in 2021. Driven by the mission to give children the foundations for an extraordinary life through education, Dukes Education is a group of over 20 schools and colleges, in addition to an early years arm, Little Dukes, across London and the South.

Led by a love of working with children and developing them into passionate, accomplished young people, Aatif Hassan founded Dukes in 2015. He set out to build a group of schools that could share best practices and learn from one another, whilst having the freedom and autonomy to have their own character and identity. The differences between the schools, colleges and nurseries within Dukes Education are celebrated whilst coming together through a common thread of values. Above all, the Dukes family leads with heart, is a team, loves learning, and does it well.
