Established by the Development of Tourism Act 1969, and trading as VisitBritain and VisitEngland, we are the national tourism agency. As an arm’s length body of the Department for Culture, Media, and Sports (DCMS) we have a statutory duty to grow tourism value and support the visitor economy.
We are looking for a Director of Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) to ensure we raise Britain’s profile, increase the volume and value of tourism exports and develop England’s visitor economy by working with organisations of all sizes and specialities. Your proven track record in leading large-scale digital transformation, introducing new digital services, platforms or operating models, managing enterprise technology environments, including cybersecurity, cloud, and infrastructure modernisation will help us achieve return on our investment in technology.
The post holder will ensure that digital, data and technology are positioned as strategic enablers of organisational performance, delivering secure and user centred services across the organisation to deliver transformation, innovation and measurable impact whilst ensuring services re inclusive, efficient and user centred.

The BTA (British Tourist Authority) is the national tourism agency, operating as a non-departmental public body funded by Department for Culture, Media, and Sports (DCMS) . VisitBritain promotes Britain overseas and is a delivery partner of the Cabinet Office’s GREAT campaign. It is active in 21 markets across the globe, representing over 72% of the inbound value to Britain, and teams are often co-located with FCDO colleagues.
As well as driving demand through international marketing, VisitBritain support the wider visitor economy by ensuring Britain is sold in international markets – connecting trade partners, hosting events to connect buyers and suppliers, and promoting positive stories of Britain to the international media and using our social and digital channels.
VisitEngland’s role is to focus on domestic tourism and supply-side support. This includes supporting the network of local tourism bodies – LVEPs (Local Visitor Economy Partnerships).
The BTA also has a statutory duty to advise Government on tourism policy; to do this they draw on expertise, industry engagement, and detailed data and research.

We are looking for an inspirational leader who will engage across our organisation to ensure we deliver on our ambitions to deliver real time localised data for Government and the industry, engaging and compelling content to potential visitors, operate in a secure cyber environment and harness AI and new technologies to empower our teams.
You will be a key part of the senior leadership team leading our DDaT programme, influencing and supporting change across the organisation, ensuring that we are forward looking in our use of technology and directly managing a team of technical and research specialists. This role reports directly to the Chief Executive, with 3 direct reports, up to a team of 30, and an annual budget of c.£7m.

Location
We follow the principle of “Locate for your Day,” which means that we expect people to use their own judgment to decide the best place to work to meet the needs of the business.
The majority of our roles can be performed predominantly remotely, however, we are not a fully remote organisation as we recognise the importance of face-to-face connection, so you will be expected to spend some time in the office.
We operate from our Global Hub at Victoria Square House in Birmingham and maintain a small presence in Central London.
Our Global Hub is located in Birmingham, which is our primary location, however, many of our employees are located across the UK. Therefore, working in another location may be required on occasion. You will be expected to commute to your usual place (Birmingham) of work at your own cost and any requests for you to travel further will be compensated.
