City St George's, University of London

Apply now

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in becoming our Director, Learning Futures Lab at City St George’s, University of London.

This is a significant appointment for us and one that sits at the apex of organisational change at City St George’s. Technology, pedagogy and student expectations are all moving quickly, and the Learning Futures Lab has a critical role to play in helping us turn that change into better learning, stronger teaching and measurable improvements in student outcomes. The Learning Futures Lab brings together significant expertise in digital education, learning design, academic development, student learning development and educational innovation. The opportunity now is to ensure that this expertise is clearly connected to the University’s priorities, visible to colleagues across Schools and translated into practical improvements in teaching, learning, assessment and student outcomes.

The Director will take forward the evolution from LEaD, Learning Enhancement and Development, to the Learning Futures Lab and give that change real meaning across the University. This is a role for someone who can build on the strengths of a highly expert team, while bringing the focus, pragmatism and strategic judgement needed to turn ideas into implementation. The Lab must be a trusted partner to academic colleagues, supporting the delivery of the education strategy and helping the University make measurable progress in the areas that matter most to students and staff.

We are open-minded about the background of the successful candidate. You may have worked in higher education, another part of the education sector or a related environment where learning, technology and organisational change come together. What matters is that you are an organisational leader who understands how to make change happen in practice. You will bring the credibility to work with academic and professional communities, the confidence to influence senior stakeholders and the discipline to connect ambition with delivery, evidence and impact.

This is a role with real reach and visibility. The Director will be a key adviser to senior leadership, a champion for effective educational change and an important external voice for City St George’s. It is also a role that requires judgement, humility and partnership. Successful change in universities happens through relationships, trust and shared purpose, as well as through pace, focus and delivery.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to shape the future of learning, lead an expert and committed team and make a lasting contribution to a university with a clear civic and professional mission, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Vice-President (Digital and Student Experience)
